Massage Therapy?

So I’m thinking about going to massage therapy school. I’m kinda apprehensive because I don’t really know that much about the field. Can anyone tell me their opinions on it? Like whats the best and worst part of the job, how hard is it to get a job, what is the stress level at this job, and things like that.

Hi! I myself am a massage therapist in training. I’ve been training for a little over a year now and Love it so far! So far… my favorite part about being a massage therapist is what you’re doing for people in pain. Helping them!

I love when a client tells me “oh I feel so much better” That’s what I get out of it! Money is important and it’s great when you have steady clientel… but to make someone feel less or no pain, is the BEST feeling!

Since I’ve only been in training for about a year now, I haven’t gone out and tried to get a job at a spa or anything. However, from the information I get from my classmates that do have jobs and what not. It’s not a completely steady career. There are some places that offer mostly part time positions and sometimes you’re not even guaranteed a massage if it’s slow that day which means you might not get paid or might not get paid as much! I wish I knew more about it in detail. It’s different situations for everyone… some people have huge success with it… partly because they’ve been doing it forever!!

I don’t think it’s possible for massagin itself to be stressful because it’s massage… massages are peaceful, relaxing, and great to have. I think it is possible for the business itself to maybe be stressful.

I hope I helped a little… but like I said before… I’m still in training!
