Alternative Medicine in America in comparison to the UK?

I have been browsing the net for job opportunities and courses in alternative therapies, but there is very limited information on the net from the US or Canada, way less than I was expecting and the wages did not really translate like i had expected.

Is Altenative medicine not as easily available and practiced in the mainstream as it is inthe UK or do most employers just shy away from the use of modern technology?

If there is such a thing as an average price, how much is the average charge for say a rreflexology treatment or indian head massage or aromatherapy?

how wide is the gap between the higher end practitioner and your local friendly therapist?

very good question. a few years ago.. when I was looking into alternative careers…there was all this talk about alternative medicine being the thing of the future and how the american public was growing tired of allopathic medicine and seekign alternatives such as chiro, reflexology, naturopaths etc…but but you have to realze that many of these therapies are still not covered by insurance..so a lot of times you have to pay out of pocket.for example…naturopaths..I love naturopaths..but none of them are listed in my insurance book..my insurance does not cover it. I know mine charges 50/visit which might not include any special treatment i might need like acupunture or whatever…but 50X3/week is a lot of money for me to go to him for acupuncture. in our area the acupouncturist charge about 30 which is still alot to pay for in cash…so that is the reason whya people are not as into it, or it has not exploed as they predicted in the late 90s..it’s because people’s incomes have dropped, they are being pinched and people do not have extra money for anything out of pocket like that. Many chiros, accupuncturist, naturopaths are barely making ends meet because the people are just not coming in like they used to. some even think why pay out of pocket when I can go to an md and pay just a 15/co pay and 5 for drugs. comes down to economics. i can’t really say what they are doing in the uk though.
