Help with plantar fasciitis?

I have had plantar fasciitis for about 2 months now in my right foot. I’ve tried almost everything: icing, rest, stretches, strengthening, water/electric current treatment, massages, you name it. However, I haven’t had a cortisone shot because I’ve been told I’m too young. I am in high school and it already ruined my track season and is about to cut into my cross country season. Anyone know how I can get rid of this? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Have you been through physical therapy? If not, it could help, as could a good arch support or orthotics I don’t understand why they are telling you that you are too young for a cortisone shot, although to be honest, they hurt like nothing else, and don’t really seem to fix the problem.

The only solution that really worked for me was having surgery to lenghten the fascia. Since I also had a heel spur making things worse, I wasn’t a candidate for the less invasive, endoscopic procedure. I had to have an open incision to fix both problems, and ended up being on crutches for 3 weeks. I have heard that the endoscopic procedure is not only quicker and a lot less painful, but also that the healing time is less than half of mine.

I understand your pain and frustration, and I really hope you get some relief soon…..hopefully before cross country season starts!
