Massage Therapy In Hospitals

Why would anyone not a male 200 pounds or over want to work in a mental hospital?

These places are dangerous. I’m a Psychiatric Technician. I’m 49 and 5’8″. I’m thinking of switching careers since I can no longer wrestle around on the floor with these guys when I’m 60 or whatever.

I like Massage Therapy and I have a bit of a background in computers. However, my job here does have great benefits.
What should I do?
I should have mentioned before, that I work on probably the most violent unit in a very large state run facility. I have worked in other programs where the danger issue is practically non-existent and it was very satisfying work. No disrespect intended towards anyone, committed or not, but obviously not everyone has been on the inside of a state hospital or prison. Yes most clients are good people and good to work with, but I there’s a reason why so many workers ted to be big, brawny guys.
And its my nature to jump into the middle of a fight etc. to keep clients safe.

the psych ward aint for you – change your career. you wont do the patients any good with such a negative outlook and its not fair on them or yourself. good luck
