Therapeutic Massage Therapist

Therapeutic Massage training needed ….?
My new job requires me to do therapeutic massage on my clients. Although I have never trained to do therapeutic message, but due to my former nursing background, I was hired and trained ONE TIME by a therapist. I think that is definitely not enough, especially in a long run.
Anyone please introduce me to any materials that teach therapeutic message, particular on both legs and hands?
Materials can be:
a. Video clips – there are tones on you tube and non are good.
b. Books.
c. CDs
I do welcome good youbute video. Please introduce a good one to me if you have a chance to come across any. Thanks.
As a certified massage therapist, I find many of the videos on youtube informational and instructional. Anything by massagenerd.com is good and many of their videos are on youtube. If you have learned your basic massage strokes, then to make it therapeutic, you just go slower and deeper and more concentrated. Ice and heat packs help it become more therapeutic instead of spa-like. But like the other poster stated, you really need to check with your state regulations if you are going to practice as a massage therapist. Most states won’t certify you just because you are a registered nurse. However, if your state, like Michigan, does not require anything on the books, then you are okay. But since most states are going toward certification, you really need to get some schooling behind you. You just need to be insured irregardless if you are a hired employee or not. And that is where you need some schooling behind you. You can also check out Erik Dalton, especially if you need therapeutic massage. Good luck!
