Can i get some grilling advice? And what kind of ribs do you like?

I have always cooked with a charcoal grill but i have to cook some baby back ribs on a gas grill this spring. I want to smoke my ribs for the last hour so would it be fine to just throw some hickory chips on the bottom or should i put them in tinfoil? When i grill with charcoal i simply throw them on the coals. Do you prefer saucy ribs or dry rub ribs or both?

I dry rub the day before, grill the day of and in the last few minutes I will brush with a wet sauce. To get the smoky flavor I use tinned pellets. You can find them easily in the summer time, year round you may want to check with bass pro or some other camping/sports store. They come in a can that you just pierce, put it on your grates of the gas grill, let them go along side of your ribs and they will be smoking while they are grilling. You can also wet some wood chips and place them in a disposable pie tin, put them on the grill first, let them get hot and start to smoke before you add your meat to the grill. I wouldn’t recommend throwing the ribs right on the charcoal, you’ll end up with unevenly cooked, partially charred ribs. You can also start your ribs in the oven. low and slow, covered in foil. When they are tender, throw them on the grill just to mark them and give them a smoky flavor.
