Massage Therapy Career Salary
I think I might want to be a Masseuse..?
Now, I Don’t want to have a Career as a masseuse, I just want it as a job while I go to college. But then I wonder, do you Have to go to a school to learn how to massage and become a Masseuse?
I ask because Im very good at massaging but Im not sure if someone can just hire me just because of that. There are Massage Therapy schools so that’s also why I ask.
Im going to college to pursue a career as a Video Game Programmer (I know, its very different from being a masseuse.) but I have a passion for video games and would like to work into them one day. I have to go to college for four to six years to fully understand video game programming. So I also wanted to know what is the usual salary of a masseuse as well, just so I can get bills paid and such.
Mainly, I want to know if you Have to go to a massage therapy school in order to be hired or if its optional, and I also wanted to know what is the salary for being a masseuse.
I mean, sure you could do it ‘under the table’ and charge like $20 or $30 per massage. If you wanted to do it properly, you need to get a business license and file and pay income taxes, etc.
I think that basically you need some kind of certification to do that stuff unless it’s just giving a friend a massage. Otherwise you are setting yourself up for a potential lawsuit. Not many people in this economy can afford esoteric things like massages unless they are lawyers or you live in Hollywood CA.
